Redefining Craft is a publication series that hopes to start a conversation about Craft — what it means, what it can mean, and why it ought to be reconsidered. Though the overarching theme is Craft, the series uses each issue to look at the theme from various and sometimes disparate perspectives. In the end, craft is not simply a category of objects, but a system of interdependent relations, linking materials, tools, skills, institutions, forms of knowledge, and people.

Issue one proposes a working framework - through concepts such as tradition, function, ecosystem, and industrialization - to reconsider how craft operates today beyond nostalgia or pure utility.
