What is it?
The Latitude Calendar shows the duration of each day and night of the year, on a specific location on earth. The further away a place is from the equator, the more dramatic the difference throughout the seasons.
Why?
We want to introduce the aspect of locality into a system that has a global format and also make the nights visible, that are as equal a part of a date as are the days.
How to use it?
You can count how many nights you still have to sleep until your birthday, or take a step back and get the whole overview of summer/winter daylight changes, or go all the way and calculate the exact duration of a specific day or night of the year, using a ruler and following the formula (1,5 x circle diameter in cm)² x π = duration in hours
