The Site Magazine is launching Volume 36: Vernaculars! Join us for a first look at the new issue, drinks, snacks, and your chance to pick up a copy of the magazine. Our first Toronto event will also include a panel discussion moderated by Manar Moursi of Studio Meem, featuring various contributors to the issue, and our guest editors Department of Unusual Certainties and Pantopicon, whose system "Human Centred Vernacular" helped to generate and structure the issue.

As climate change threatens, as engineered solutions spur new problems, and global politics fall short in addressing local issues, architects are increasingly turning to “the vernacular”: the informal, the spontaneous, the regional, and the handmade. Is it mere nostalgia that drives us to seek examples from the past?

Join us as we attempt to answer this and other questions about present, past, and future vernaculars.
