This issue of OASE magazine is called Codes and Conventions and focuses on a generation of modern architects who have remained in the shadow of their famous contemporaries.
OASE wants to illustrate that this other set of architectural practices represents alternative approaches to modernity that offer points of departure from which to rethink contemporary design attitudes. Their alternative modern design attitudes are investigated through analysis, evaluation and discussion of concrete projects and show and their projects show an idiosyncratic search for continuity with premodernistic architecture.
Prominent authors describe how modern architects like Fernand Pouillon, Kay Fisker, Fernando Tavora and Giovanni Muzio were busy with the language of architecture and its recent and classical history. The study of projects is preceded by an article by Vittorio Magnago Lampugnani, who problematises the notion of novelty within contemporary architectural culture.
