This instalment explores two themes, “University Buildings in Context” and “Addition and Subtraction”.

The first presents a selection of eight case studies that represent the idea of building for universities in the context of a regional or location condition. Among these are Kolding Campus of SDU by Henning Larsen, Georgetown School of Foreign Service in Qatar by Legorreta + Legorreta, and the Teaching Center in WU Campus by BUSarchitektur. The second theme addresses the renovation of older buildings, adapting them to new uses, while deciding what to keep, remove, or add in the process. Five examples include Harvard Art Museums by Renzo Piano and Janus by mlzd.
