In 1988 Peter van Bolhuis, landscape architect, chose to follow his passion and pursued a career as an aerial photographer. His photographs reveal the special qualities of town and country and illustrate in a splendid manner our remitting efforts to make the land habitable. Van Bolhuis died suddenly in 2005, in the bloom of his career.


This book contains a substantial selection of his work. For the most part, his oeuvre consists of photographs taken in the Netherlands, but Van Bolhuis also produced images of classical gardens, parks and villas in England, Italy and France, and het took unparalleled aerial photographs of metropolises in Europe and America. Peter van Bolhuis captured all these places with great feeling, with understanding an with precision. The accompanying essays in the book give an impression of his background as a landscape architect, his methods and the significance of his work.
