This special issue of a+u magazine has two parts, of which the first contains a long awaited reprint of an issue that a +u first released in 1991 on the work of John Hejduk.

Alongside housing projects by the architect in Berlin and Tegel, along with large size sculptural pieces realised in Riga, Atlanta, London and Oslo, the edition also features essays and writings by Hejduk and David Shapiro. The second part presents a collection of interior design projects that encourage interactive relations between people, their senses and space. Highlights include: Nouvel’s Les Bains des Docks; Pawson’s Monastery of Our Lady of Novy Dvur; Hadid’s acoustic design for the JS Bach Music Hall and Zecc Architecten’s Church of Living.

Also featured are projects by Maison Martin Margiela, Philippe Rahm and Karim Rashid along with an additional set of works that provide inspired and creative solutions to what would otherwise be everyday spaces. Illustrated throughout with colour and black and white photographs and accompanied by technical drawings and explanatory texts.
