Ryue Nishizawa

Publisher:a+u

  • Paperback
  • English, Japanese
  • 156 Pages
  • May 3, 2013

This issue of a+u magazine features the design activities of Ryue Nishizawa, SANAA co-founder and partner together with Kazuyo Sejima.

From his Weekend House in 1998 to his most recent endeavours, the survey of his work is comprehensive and personal, supplemented by sketches and drawings from the design process. Nishizawa desires to realise “landscape-like architecture that transcends, in scale, the size of the building,” and is heavily invested in the spatial experience of his work. The question of how discoveries made in one project find development in subsequent work is elaborated upon in a special interview, and no less than nineteen diverse projects are highlighted.
